INTEGRATED HEALTH COACHING
Our Approach
What is an Integrative Approach to Health?
Perhaps you came to this work with the specific goal of getting fit, 'fixing' your gut issues, or losing weight. That's a completely reasonable place to start.
However, your body is a vastly complex, deeply intelligent network of interconnected dynamics, not isolatable parts that can be 'fixed'.
When we treat it as anything less than that, we tend to get limited results at best, and at worst, we create new problems in attempting to solve old ones.
Rather than targeting symptoms in isolation, and integrative approach asks a different set of questions:
Where are the roadblocks, and why are they there? What does your body need to return to its own natural state of balance? What has been overlooked, overridden, or misunderstood?
Our approach draws from the full picture of your health, informed by functional testing and your own felt sense of your experience, to see with increasing clarity the whole living context that informs your health & healing.
From this holistic lens, we're able to support those who've tried everything for their health, but are still experiencing symptoms. What we often find is a system locked in a depletion pattern: chronic stressors, whether environmental or psychological, and unresolved nervous system activation accumulating until the body. The diagram below shows what that pattern often looks like and how we approach it via what we call the healing cycle.
How it looks
The Four Dimensions of Health We Work With
Your Inner Landscape
Quality of thoughts, emotions, personal story, your nervous system tone and stress, felt sense of the body, your unique essence.
I
The Living Body
How we nourish ourselves, move our bodies, our lifestyle, how we choose to live.
IT
WE
Community & Culture
Our relationships, community, the attuned space, culture, collective belief systems, worldviews, unconcious social and relational contracts, collective trauma, belonging, ancestry.
ITS
Your Environment & the
World Around You
Your external environment, pollution, political & economic systems, health care & educational institutions, the natural environment, our wider global context.
Why We Use Functional Testing
Many of us have had the experience of feeling something is wrong, but have been told by a doctor that everything looks normal. This is not a failure of individual doctors so much as a limitation of the conventional model that is designed to solely read acute disease & symptoms. While this is lifesaving in many circumstances, for many of us in our current context it can also be misleading and confusing.
Conventional reference ranges are calculated from population averages, meaning "normal" reflects what's common, not what's optimal. In an increasingly unwell and nutritionally depleted world, that distinction matters enormously.
In an integrated approach, we use more nuanced reference ranges and your results are interpreted as a coherent picture, cross-referenced with your symptoms, history, and lived experience, to build a clear and personalised map of where your body is under strain and where the greatest leverage for change lies.
What Functional Testing can Include:
Comprehensive Bloodwork & Organic Acids Metabolomic Mapping
Inflammation, nutrient status, thyroid function, blood sugar regulation, and hormonal balance, read with far greater nuance than a standard panel. A deeper metabolomic map provides a view into the body's cellular metabolic processes.
Gut Microbiome & Stool Analysis
A detailed map of your digestive ecosystem, increasingly understood as central to mood, immunity, energy, and systemic inflammation.
DNA & Genetic Testing
How your body processes nutrients, responds to stress, and regulates inflammation, including your unique methylation patterns for longer-term support.

Movement Philosophy
Working With the Body, Not Against It
Dysfunction, injury, tension and restriction reflect how the nervous system is functioning, where chronic stress has settled, what the body has learned to guard against and the lifestyle rhythms that inhibit your flourishing.
These inhibitions not only limit your movement fluidity, physical aesthetics and capacity to express strength, but as a result also how grounded, confident and capable you feel day to day.
Our job is to understand those patterns and work with them. This requires developing a deep connection to your body and learning how to communicate and listen to what it’s trying to tell you so you can work with it, not against it.
Some approaches wait for perfect conditions before they begin, treating the body like a delicate flower. Others push intensity carelessly, as if the body is an indestructible rock.
What we bring is a nuanced but practical approach, an evolving attentiveness to what the body is ready for and a deep respect for what becomes possible when you meet it there (a lot more than you may expect). The body is more resilient and more capable than most people have been led to believe and given the right movements and genuine attention to individual biomechanics, an enormous amount of vitalising strength and athleticism becomes available.
Our approach involves a thorough movement screening and physical assessment as to accurately inform an appropriate exercise program that meets you in your current context with a clear path of progression towards your desired goals, whether they be aesthetics, strength, performance, mobility, longevity or all of the above. Ongoing form review and progress tracking allows us to make adjustments as needed to reduce any unnecessary stalling.
Nutrition Philosophy
Food as Deep Medicine
Our nutritional approach is grounded in both cutting edge peer-reviewed science, chrononutritional insights, ancestral wisdom and personal factors. We look beyond macros and calories to understand what your body is actually asking for: the nutrient cofactors, the seasonal rhythms, the gut terrain, and the nervous system context that determine how food is received.
We draw on the deep nourishment traditions of nose-to-tail eating, fermented and cultured foods, slow, local and organic cooking, and herbal medicine to build a genuinely therapeutic relationship with what you eat.
The goal is for food & cooking to become a language you can read, and a life-giving, replenishing resource you can draw on, for the rest of your life.
